Four Teens and #NAYC15

We did it. We managed to make it to Oklahoma City

for the North American Youth Congress!

Our story begins with the very first night tickets were being sold. I didn’t have enough to purchase them at that time, so I decided to wait until I had the money.

They sold out in 14 hours.

I honestly gave up hope at that point. I just didn’t see how in the world I was going to manage it. So I prayed. Once. I asked the Lord if it was His will for us to be there that He would somehow work it out! A few weeks later, a friend was able to obtain the tickets for me, even though it was less than two weeks away! I knew then, the Lord had worked it out! Reservations were made, plans were made, and we were on our way!

When we arrived at the Chesapeake Arena, the number of young people there was astounding! I have worked youth camps before….but this??? THIS was bigger….much, much bigger than any youth camp I’ve been part of! The official count was 19,000 attendees! Most of them were ages 12-25! The energy and the expectation was phenomenal! As the first service began, worship came forth, God was magnified, and then the preacher preached, “More Than a Covenant”. Each night was filled with the presence of God! There were three workers in the arena whose lives were forever changed when they were filled with the Holy Spirit as they were on the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2! On the last night, worship, prayer, and praise rang out with great rejoicing! It reminded me of the verse:

“And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.” ~Revelation 19:6 (KJV)

It truly sounded like “many waters” or, as a friend said, similar to a water fall! All to glorify the Lord!

It was an experience I am thankful to have been a part of. It was an experience my teens will always remember.

Now it’s over and we are all back in our homes. I have seen and read testimony after testimony of how that conference has changed the lives of young people…all over this country!

This is what is going to change our nation….not who we vote for, not what we boycott, but prayer…..prayer brings REVIVAL. Revival changes the hearts and lives of people!

Tonight, my second oldest son was driving home from work. He could see meteors from the Perseid meteor shower as he was driving, and he told me about how he saw one go behind a cloud, and how the small cloud was illuminated and brightened the sky around it. As we sat outside watching the meteor shower I thought about it. The meteor is a single point of light. Bright, but when it went behind the cloud, tiny droplets of water magnifiedthat light, expanding the light.

Isn’t that much like what we are doing? When we magnify Him in our lives? Doesn’t our world need to “see” His light through us? By living a Godly life, full of His Spirit, we are magnifying His glorious light that others might see Him. This is why He has given us that precious living water!

If we want to make a better world for our children to live in, then we need to do it through prayer, and in service for our King. It is our God given duty as mothers to teach our children to be the light in this world. What a joy and blessing it is!
