Introducing: Home of #NAYC17 Lucas Oil Stadium

Friday night August 7th, 2015 at North American Youth Congress 2015, everyone was filled with anticipation, not only was the Holy Ghost going to move mightily in the service (And It did!) but the long awaited announcement of the location of the next North American Youth Congress (NAYC) would come forth.

#NAYC15 (as the hashtag calls it) was a special event because it is the first ever sold-out NAYC with 18,000 in in Chesapeake Arena and 4,000 in the Cox Arena overflow. Many people have anecdotes about people who decided not to come for lack of room and because, if they were to come, they only wanted to be in the main arena.

For this reason, the announcement of next year’s venue, both the city (which is always exciting) and the specific venue, was a huge moment. Then this happened:

NAYC ’17 will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana. If this was going to be the same as the past NAYC events, it would obviously be at the Banker’s Life Fieldhouse, an arena with a capacity of about 18,000. But no! NAYC ’17 is not the same as past events, this is going to be a new, even bigger event! NAYC ’17 is going to take place in Lucas Oil Stadium! Stated capacity of 67,000 (for football).


Fun facts on the location of #NAYC17:

– Home of the Indianapolis Colts
 – Largest retractable roof in the NFL
 – Each roof panel weighs 725 tons or 1.4 Million pounds
 – It can open fully in 11 minutes
 – The north window wall is the 2nd largest in the world and  can close in 4 minutes!
 – The screens are 97 feet by 53 feet
 – Opened on August 6, 2008
 – Hosted Super Bowl XLVI in 2012

This is truly NAYC moving into another realm of event, the kind of event that those of us in America have only heard about. 50,000 Apostolics worshipping God in one place is not something that has happened in America, but come 2017 that will no longer be the case.
