Why God Isn’t Fixing This

Yesterday, 3 gunmen crashed a holiday party at a San Bernardino Fire Department leaving 14 tragically murdered and 17 injured. The media and (probably fairly soon) the President have used this to advance an anti-gun agenda, as they have with all shootings in the last 7 years. I agree that something must be done. This is insanity. People are pointing out racists claims of “if it’s a Muslim, it’s terrorism. If it’s a black/Latino, they’re thugs. If it’s a white, they’re mentally ill.”

YES THEY DO HAVE PSYCHOLOGICAL ISSUES. Every single one of them; black, white, Latino, Muslim. If they’re killing innocent civilians without justifiable cause, something isn’t right in, not only their mind, but their heart and spirit.

Also there’s this NY Daily News mocking men like Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Rand Paul, Representative Lindsey Graham, and House Speaker Paul Ryan for offering prayers. The front page says, “GOD ISN’T FIXING THIS.” As offensive as that is and as open as an attack on Christianity as that is… I want to expand upon it.
Want to know why “God isn’t fixing this?”

“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.”

II Chronicles 7:14-15 NKJV

The pride of America and her leaders is astounding. Stop putting your faith in legislation and put your faith in Jesus. Laws will not stop the wickedness of men; only God can do that. The men offering their prayers understand that God is the only One who is truly able to change the hearts of men (or we hope they do, and I’m very sure they do, personally).

We like to compare America to Israel. We forget what happened when Israel turned from God. They boiled their kids, killed each other, plagues swept the land, and they were carried into captivity. Jeremiah cried out for Israel to repent. He begged, but he was mocked and put in stocks. Israel was prosperous. They didn’t want to hear that God was about to cast judgement upon them. Why would He? Israel was doing okay, but then came Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonians.

We have to submit to His will and repent. Israel wouldn’t hear it. Someone has to cry out for America and her leaders to turn their pride to humility toward God, to repent, and to pray so fervently for the Kingdom of God to come and His will be done.

But God said, “If MY people.” Not all of America is following God (or claiming to). The people of God in this great country must begin a large push for intercession for our nation, push aside our will, and pray that the kingdom comes and His will be done. We are not above submission and intercession.

California has bans on assault rifles and strict gun laws. The legislation didn’t stop it. You cannot legislate men to stop being wicked. Man doesn’t have the ability. Mankind can’t even direct their own steps. Jeremiah said:

“O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.”

Jeremiah‬ ‭10:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The way of a man’s heart before destruction is prideful. Don’t get caught up with this people of pride… Humble yourselves and pray, seek His face, repent! Pray for the Kingdom to come and His will to be done on Earth as it is in Heaven!

These people are being carried into captivity, the captivity of Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar said, “Bring me the young men in Israel. We’ll make them acculturated to the Babylonian way of life. We’ll teach them our ways and make them wise in our way.” Some of the young men became not only captives in Babylon, but they became CAPTIVATED in Babylon. The young men saw the might and glory of the Babylonian empire, being drawn in and tricked by the enemy to forsake their God and His infinite wisdom for the wisdom men and idols.

Don’t be carried away with the captivity of this people. Don’t get caught up in man’s legislation, wisdom, and glory… Intercede for this people, cry out, and pray!
