Christian Blogger at Momastery Engaged to US Women’s Soccer Player

With a headline like that, maybe some people are confused as to how you got here to JNN. We aren’t a gossip site and we aren’t in the business of engagement announcements (and that’s not even getting into the fact that this is a gay engagement announcement), however this is an important issue that we need to be aware of.

Christian “mom blogger” Glennon Doyle Melton of Momastery has announced her engagement to Us Women’s Soccer Player Abby Wombach. Melton announced last year that she and her husband were separating and then a few months later announced that she and Wombach her dating (and that she, clearly, was no longer heterosexual). Now they are engaged.

OK, so if we aren’t writing this to congratulate the couple, why are we reporting on this? Simple. Because it’s a scary and revealing truth about the state of the church on the whole in America. Do a Google search, Glennon Doyle Melton is consistently described as a Christian blogger, a Christian Philanthropist, and a Christian Author. She runs Christian charities, a Christian blog, and writes Christian books.

And now she is gay. Not only gay but getting married to another world famous homosexual in what will be an extremely well covered wedding. The whole world will watch as “Love wins” and true Bible-believing Christians will silently stand by because we are too afraid to be labeled as hateful and mean to point out the Truth!

But I am not afraid. Jesus Name News is not afraid. While we live in a secular society and that secular society is free to allow anything they desire, and they have allowed homosexual marriage. Great, ok, by the current laws of America they can get married.

But the fact is that by the laws of God they cannot. By the laws of God, she is no longer a Christian and her website should no longer be considered a “Christian mom blog”. Her books may have been written by a Christian when they were written, but their author is no longer a Christian. Period.

No, we don’t need to be mean. No, we shouldn’t picket the wedding or boycott anything. Yes, we should pray for a soul that has turned on God and walked away from Him. But we should not be silent.

So let me leave you with two Bible verses in closing to keep in mind as you respond to this any other issues

“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” – Ephesians‬ ‭4:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” – 1 John‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

First of all, if you must speak, do it in love. Is this writer doing right in God’s eyes? No. and we should be clear on that. But hate is not ok. We don’t wish any horrible thing upon her for the sake of horrible things. Is it better she be saved? Yes, but that is her choice, given to her by God Himself and we must let her live with those choices. We can pray, we can speak when appropriate, but not much else and we should do it in love.

However, I do agree with one statement that the newly engaged couple have said since their engagement. They said that love wins. And while I very much disagree on the meaning of that statement I know that no matter what, in the end, God is love and He is the source of all that is good. In the end, God will be victorious, He will reign, and thus love will always win.
