A Pineville man has been charged with 500 counts of pornography with juveniles.
The counts involve both images and videos, according to a statement sent to The Town Talk.
James Smith, 28, of the 100 block of Darlene Road, was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on Wednesday after an investigation by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation’s Cyber Crime Unit and the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, according to the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office.
“Our office will continue to work with our law enforcement partners in an effort to investigate and arrest child predators and bring them to justice,” said AG Jeff Landry in the statement.
Smith remains in jail on Thursday with no bond set. Other details of what triggered an investigation weren’t immediately known.
