And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do. And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus. And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him. And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;
Acts 22:10-17 KJV
Jesus tells Saul to go into the temple, and Ananias will tell you what to do. Ananias tells him to be baptized, and to call upon the name of the Lord. Why though?
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Acts 2:21 KJV
When you call upon the name of the Lord, salvation will come on you. When do you call upon the name of the Lord? Baptism. What’s the name?
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Acts 2:36 KJV
This scripture shows that Jesus is Lord so, if Jesus is Lord, calling upon the name of the Lord, or Jesus, will save you. According to John chapter 3, baptism is necessary for salvation, but for more proof, the following scripture shows that baptism can save you:
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
1 Peter 3:21 KJV
And for even more clarification … here is the direct statement:
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:38 KJV
